Chiang-Kai-Sek Residence (士林官邸)

Those who are familiar with Taiwan and China histories will know how KMT lost to Communist on 1949 and retreated to Taiwan. The first Taiwan president Chiang-Kai-Sek together with his comrades since formed a new government in Taiwan. It is not difficult at all to see his marks all over this piece of land barely larger than our Pahang state. In fact, our journey from Kaohsiung to Taipei witnessed a uniform nomenclature of roads using his name. The road "Zhong Zhen Road(中正路)" could be found all over the island~

Chiang-Kai-Sek Residence, also known as Shilin Residence was once his presidential palace. We were quite lucky as this residence used to be closed and was just open for visitors very recently. Still, photographing was not allowed and we can only note down everything in our memories. As we walked along the path once stepped by Chiang and his wife, listening to stories told by the tour guide, images and visualization of what happened then all popped up with a feeling of immense serenity.

Side of the residence~ Anyone who are planning to go, you can online book a place for a free tour guide.....The whole tour took about an hour which gave an insight into what Chiang and the first lady did everyday...their little secret and some interesting stories~ The second floor was their bedroom and private space. In one of the room which used to be Madam Song's drawing room, they are broadcasting an original sound clip of Madam Song's speech in the US parliament asking for weaponry aids.......

The garden was so huge and fulled with beautiful landscaped flowers.......
